In school we have a range of pupil led groups. Below you will see a brief outline of each. To learn more about what each group has been up to, please go to each specific page from the main menu.
Young Hopefuls
The Young Hopefuls are a key part of our school community at Kingstone and Thruxton. They are responsible for a range of things; from organising school events to running lunchtime activities, you will often find them helping around the school in a variety of different ways. Our Young Hopefuls act as role models and deliver and demonstrate our school values on a daily basis. They wear bright jackets so that they are easily identifiable to both adults and children.
The Young Hopefuls meet weekly to discuss responsibilities and plan future events. Each half-term they complete tasks to earn a badge. This half-term the badge is Safety and the children have been busy thinking of ways to keep those within the school and the wider community safe.
SCHOOL PARLIAMENT
The School Parliament is run and led by the children (overseen by Miss Evans) and takes an active role in making decisions and suggestions on behalf of the children in the school.
At Kingstone and Thruxton we are proud to have pupil representatives that take part in Class and School Parliament meetings. These are in place so that pupils have a voice and are involved in decisions about the school that affect them. Through Class Council all pupils can raise issues, share ideas and take part in discussions that involve all of their classmates in reaching a democratic solution. Wider issues that arise at Class Council are discussed further at School Parliament meetings, this ensures that as many pupil voices as possible are heard. Pupils at Kingstone and Thruxton know that this is their school and their thoughts and ideas matter.
The School Parliament is made up of one representative from each class. Each year, the classes elect a representative who attends School Parliament meetings - all children are able to put themselves forward and present to the class why they think they would be a great representative. Meetings are held regularly and reps bring together ideas, comments and concerns that are raised in class time prior to the meeting. An agenda is set and sent to all the classes to discuss.
HOUSE CAPTAINS
In school, all children belong to one of our four school houses: Oak, Pine, Silverbirch and Sycamore. Each house is led by two House Captains. The House Captains are children in Year 6 who have shown great leadership potential throughout their time in school. The house Captains are responsible for helping TO organise and run whole school events and interhouse competitions.
